From Newport to Dubai

I was approached in the late summer to prepare a commission for a person in Dubai. It was my job to convey gratitude to a generous host – through imagery. This was a very exciting and challenging project!
After meeting with the client to understand the level of emotion she wished to express, I generated several sketches. She selected one that most captured what she wanted to say. We agreed upon the size, and I went to work.
The final result is above, in addition to a sequence of photos below showing the receiver opening the package on Christmas day 2010.
The circle is complete, a seed of joy planted in the desert.
